DishDrawer Leaks and Flood Faults: Shut Down, Then Diagnose

Water under a Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer or a flood fault on the display means stop using the drawers until the source is found.

Flood protection exists because a compact DishDrawer sits inside cabinetry where a small drip can ruin floors and wiring.

If you see water on the toe-kick, a wet base tray, or a flood-related fault, treat it as an active water event—not a nuisance code.

Immediate Steps That Limit Damage

Cancel the cycle, leave the drawer cracked open only if it is safe, and shut the water supply under the sink. Towel up visible water. Keep pets and kids away from the wet zone.

Safety note: If water has reached outlets or the power cord, do not touch switches with wet hands. Isolate power at the breaker if you can do so from a dry location.

Common Leak Origins on DishDrawers

Door seal corners, detergent oversudsing that pushes foam past seals, loose filter seating, cracked sump components, and inlet or drain hose fittings are frequent sources. Overloading that prevents a square close can also spray water out the front.

  • Foam or water at the drawer front during wash.
  • Drips only when draining (hose or pump joint).
  • Wetness after standing idle (supply fitting).
  • Flood fault with little visible water (sensor in base tray).

Why Resetting Alone Is a Bad Idea

Clearing a flood fault without finding the drip invites a larger spill on the next fill. Technicians dry the base sensor path, pressure-test connections, and verify the drawer seal geometry before returning the unit to service.

After the Repair

Run a supervised short cycle and inspect the toe-kick again. Keep detergent dosing moderate—especially with soft water—so suds do not recreate the leak path.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep using the dry drawer?

Not until the leak source is identified. Shared supply lines and cabinet water can affect both drawers.

Does a flood fault always mean a broken part?

Sometimes it is installation torque on a hose or an oversudsing event. Diagnosis still comes first.

Will a flood ruin the control board?

Prolonged moisture can. Early shutdown improves the odds of a simpler repair.

For active DishDrawer leaks, contact us promptly. Water events escalate quickly inside kitchen cabinets.
